From the Tour de France Femmes to the UAE: Riding for a Cure with Purpose

At Ride For Unity, we’re proud to stand with those who ride not just for the finish line—but for something far greater. In a recent Khaleej Times feature, the spotlight shines on our very own Imke Abma – UAE Community Hub Director – whose journey spans continents and causes.

This incredible story follows Imke, who competed in the Tour de France Femmes and is now bringing that same spirit of determination and compassion to the UAE. Her mission? To raise awareness for blood cancer research, inspired by her young niece’s battle with leukaemia. It’s a story that embodies exactly why we do what we do—because behind every ride is a reason, and behind every kilometre is a cause.

What makes this even more inspiring is how sport becomes a universal language of hope. Whether on world-famous French mountain climbs or desert roads in the Middle East, the power of cycling as a tool for healing, community, and action is undeniable.

As we continue our mission to connect people across borders, we are constantly reminded that unity doesn’t always start with a headline—it often begins with a deeply personal story. Imke’s journey is not just about racing—it’s about resilience, and it’s a beautiful reflection of our belief that sport has the capacity to inspire change, build bridges, and honour those we love.
